Life without taxes

According to Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, Indonesians have a very low awareness of their tax obligation. Out of a 110 million workforce, only 8.5 million file annual tax return declaration forms. This represents a mere 7.7 percent, compared to 50 percent in Japan. The same is also true for businesses. Out of 12 million legally registered businesses, only 460,000 report their taxes.
